The University of Texas at Arlington, College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI) is seeking applications from individuals who shares the University's core values of high standards of excellence in innovative and collaborative research, combined with fostering an open and inclusive environment that promotes participation of underrepresented groups in research.
CONHI is particularly interested in recruiting innovative scientists who can make a significant contribution to the college's overarching theme of programming and research in health and disease across the lifespan, with a focus on advancing health and the human condition. Ideal candidates will have a broad understanding and interest in multidisciplinary studies of how social determinants of health affect the health of populations. Relevant research backgrounds may include urban health, evaluation, health disparities, social determinants of health, and social and economic development among others. Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their teaching, research and service.
CONHI is comprised of three different departments; 1) The Department of Kinesiology (which includes the Public Health Program), 2) Undergraduate Nursing, and 3) Graduate Nursing. There are multiple tenured/tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in the area of Population & PUBLICHEALTH. These positions include:
1)A minimum of one faculty position to be housed in the Department of Kinesiology. 2)A minimum of one faculty position to be housed in Department of Undergraduate Nursing or the Department of Graduate Nursing.
A wide range of agencies, including the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Science Foundation, and the American Heart Association, funds faculty in CONHI. The University of Texas at Arlington and the College offers faculty members access to state-of the art research facilities. In addition, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex is a hotbed for biomedical and health-related research; and CONHI has existing collaborations with regional, national and internationally recognized institutions.
The position will involve approximately 40% time devoted to teaching, 40% time devoted to research and scholarly activities, and 20% time devoted to service. In addition, the candidate will be expected to contribute the continued growth of the public health program and serve as a faculty mentor for undergraduate and graduate students.
Required qualifications for position in the Department of Kinesiology: 1.PhD in Public Health or related field 2.Demonstrated commitment to population & public health research, education and service.
Required qualifications for position in Undergraduate or Graduate Nursing: 1.PhD in Nursing or related field 2.Eligibility for licensure as a registered nurse in Texas 3.Demonstrated commitment to nursing research, education and service.
Candidates in their early career must demonstrate strong potential to develop a research program supported by external funding, while more established candidates must demonstrate active, externally funded research agendas.
A history of research publications, research funding and postdoctoral fellowship training
