The Assistant Athletics Director Grounds, Facility & Event Management Operations serves as the athletics leader responsible for the oversight and performance of Athletic Department controlled grass and synthetic fields, including oversight of general athletics grounds. This individual also serves as an active, contributing team member to the Athletics Department facilities and events management team.
Functions as the head of the Athletic Fields natural and synthetic turf management program; ensures the high-quality playability and performance of Athletic fields including the procurement of equipment and supplies, and manages the maintenance and care of all field equipment.
Provides oversight and maintenance of general athletic department grounds and designated sport fields. Ensures safety, cleanliness and appearance of Athletics Department controlled grounds.
Develops and manages budgets related to athletics fields and grounds including but not limited to equipment, performance and care, supplies, deferred maintenance and capital planning; Assists to develop and monitor facility operations and event operations budgets; supports future budget planning for athletic facilities through identification of functional enhancements.
Serves on the Events Management services team ensuring event operations are safe, timely, efficient, successful and repeatable from event to event.
Communicates with relevant parties as it relates to the playability of all field surfaces. Maintains all required testing data for the surfaces and completes analysis of such data as necessary.
Ensures coordination of facilities schedules, building security, oversight of building systems and proper maintenance of athletics facilities, custodial and grounds services.
Engages service providers and holds them accountable to ensure proper care of assigned athletic facilities.
Assists Athletic Department leadership to develop and execute event management plans for all home athletic events related to all UH 17 NCAA sports as well as other events hosted in/around Athletics Facilities including event/game preparedness. Manages internal and external constituents and event service providers (including but not limited to, Parking Services, Police/Fire, emergency services, security/patron services, etc.) resulting in event operations that are successful and repeatable.
Serves as a positive Ambassador for UH Athletics and UH in general. Effuses positivity and grows affinity for all things UH. Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned.
Bachelors and 3 years experience
Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
