The Department of Speech Pathology at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA) invites applicants for the Clinical Educator of Speech-Language Pathology staff position commencing immediately. The ideal candidate will have at least a Masters or Doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology. Specialty in medically-based Speech-Language Pathology related disorders in both adult and pediatric populations are desirable. The successful applicant will teach both graduate and undergraduate clinical courses and will supervise masters and undergraduate students as they engage in clinical practicum activities on and off-campus. Supervision will be the primary responsibility of the successful applicant.
The Clinical Educator will possess the knowledge and accomplished skill level in the field of Communication Disorders. They will be able to work collaboratively with students and other professionals within and outside of the discipline, program, department, and community. They will be knowledgeable about medical speech-language pathology related disorders, including neurogenic communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan, and developmental disabilities. The Clinical Educator will also have clinical experience and supervisory skills relating to cases with a wide spectrum of non-medical Speech-Language Pathology related disorders and differences, including disorders of voice, resonance, fluency, cognition, and hearing (within limitations). The Clinical Educator will be involved in clinical training, education, and supervision of speech-language pathology undergraduate and graduate students at all levels of training. AA/EOE
MA/MS degree or higher in Speech-Language Pathology, Speech and Hearing Science, or Communication Sciences and Disorders
American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) CCC-SLP
Eligibility for Louisiana Licensure in Speech-Language Pathology
Clinical experience in the field of speech-language pathology
Teaching and/or clinical supervision
A research/clinical doctorate in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders
Experience working with a diverse range of clients and students in a variety of clinical settings
Familiarity with the 2020 ASHA Council for Clinical Certification Standards
Familiarity with CALIPSO
Excellent organization, time management, and leadership skills
