Doctorate degree in psychology required. Minimum of one year experience delivering mental health services in a clinical setting required; university counseling center setting preferred. Licensed or license eligible in the State of Texas. License must be obtained within 18 months of start date. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Provide clinical mental health services to the student body of Sam Houston State University. Direct clinical services include individual, couples, and group therapy as well as crisis intervention. Indirect clinical services include outreach presentations, campus/community consultation, and supervision of trainees.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Typical areas of services are Personal, Couples, and Group Counseling. Typical duties may include, but are not necessarily limited to: consultation and outreach to the campus community including students, faculty, and staff; respond to day and night psychological crisis for students; conduct intake assessments; provide supervision to graduate student trainees; engage in on-going case management; make appropriate referrals to other agencies as necessary (e.g. M.D., Psychiatrist, etc.); participate in staff meetings; serve on university committees; engage in professional development activities. All service provision is bound by the Rules of Practice set forth by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists. Performs other related duties as assigned.
